Life Science Washington offers pro bono consultation services to early-stage Member companies to help develop the Washington life science entrepreneurial community. A one-time consultation is available for future members. Our consultation program can help with a broad variety of issues facing the life sciences community, including: company formation, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, reimbursement, merger and acquisition strategy, dilutive and non-dilutive funding, pitch practice, business plan review, technology transfer, product design, manufacturing, accounting/finance, and management.

Geof Baker is a Digital Health consultant with 30 years of diverse healthcare industry and technology experience as an executive and entrepreneur. Geof raised $15M in capital, founded and sold several healthcare service and software companies. He works with early-stage ventures to fuel their top-line revenue growth, differentiate their solutions in crowded markets, validate product-market fit, build better business cases, and finding new paths to sales. Julia Parker, our market research consultant, has over 25 years of experience in the bio-pharma/technology sector. She has conducted basic cellular research in both infectious disease and cancer therapeutic development in institutions ranging from small non-profits to large global companies, including SRI, Biomembrane, PathoGenesis Corp., Chiron & Amgen. Since 2009 she has provided research services focused on business, marketing, scientific, medical, and patent information as Principal/Research Consultant of Biosleuth Consulting Services LLC. Both her M.S. (Pathobiology) and her M.L.I.S. are from the University of Washington.
Karen Peterson, PhD, our Life Science Career Consultant, has 20 years of experience in career counseling of life scientists. She is the author of the Nature Guide to Life Science Careers and a former Member of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board for the National Postdoctoral Association. She has specific expertise in counseling PhD-level life scientists interested in a wide variety of careers, both locally and globally. Her skills include strategic career planning and networking for informational interviews. She also has expertise in analyzing CVs/resumes/cover letters, interview preparation, and strategic negotiation of job offers. Chris Porter, PhD, our medical technology and biotechnology consultant, has over 40 years of experience in the medical device and biotech industry in both major corporations (3M, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer) and early stage medical companies. He is a serial entrepreneur with 42 patents and he has been influential in introducing over 35 medical products.
Jacqueline Sherris, PhD, our global health consultant, has worked global health for over 30 years, leading programs and partnerships that built evidence and practice to reduce global disease burden inequities. She has worked with diverse donors and partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, Merck, WHO, and others. She has served as an invited writer and speaker on global health themes including innovation to scale, cervical cancer prevention, women’s health, and non-communicable disease (NCDs).
Lotte Steuten, PhD, our health economics consultant, has over 15 years of experience with health technology assessment and health economic evaluation. Her specific skills include decision-analytic modeling to assess the value of a health care technology at each stage of the innovation lifecycle.
